"First at Ilminster Carnival" "First at Axminster Carnival" The Lyme Regis Majorettes is a local voluntary run organisation, which was formed over 25 years ago. Over this period of time they have gained a reputation as one of the best troupes in the area. Our main aims are to develop young people and teach them valuable dance skills, improve their self confidence, making sure they have fun and enjoyment when training to become a Majorette. We represent Lyme Regis by performing at events and Carnivals in both Dorset and East Devon thrilling the crowds wherever we go with our Marching, Baton Twirling and Pom Pom routines. The Troupe train every Thursday at Woodroffe School, throughout the year to reach the high standard that we are now at. Our trainer is Mrs Olivia Miller, who has been with the troupe for over 20 years, and she is assisted by Mrs Emma Prowse who between them produce the routines that are changed for every new season. At present we have over 60 girls in the troupe, these are divided into three sections the Seniors, the Juniors and the Tiny Tots. Every September we take in new recruits who are trained until they are ready to join one of the three troupes. The troupe are run by a hard working committee who take care of the organisation and fund raising that is needed to keep it operational. Click The Image! |
